Sound Grooves (OST Domestic Vol. 1)

Over the summer I had the bright idea to make a soundtrack mix which led me down a rabbit hole.  After visiting a plethora of blogs and listening to thousands of tracks, I decided to break it up in two categories:  domestic and international.  Here is the first installment of the domestic (USA) version.  Stay tuned for plenty more throughout 2017!

A long time ago I made a mix called "Wino Breaks" that was fairly well-received.  Given my collection, selection, and deejay skills have improved since I felt it was fitting to revisit the vibe of mix.  Great for a bike ride, skatepark jaunt, peppy sunday drive, folding laundry or cooking with wine...enjoy!

Music to Drive to...

I've always liked driving to "house" music.  There's just something about a continuous flow of 120ish tunes that keep me going in the car.  This fact, and that recently a good friend has turned me back onto this genre, motivated me to make this mix.  Nothing fancy...but some old and new tracks that remind me of my college days driving to and from UCSB.

Gimme Another Break

I've been thinking about making this mix for a while and finally got around to it over "ski week break" in February.  It's an uptempo mix filled with big drums, organic sounds, and silly vocals.  In general it encapsulates some of my favorites artists like DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist, DJ Format, DJ Day, Jon Kennedy, Quantic, Wagon Christ (aka Luke Vibert), Ben Westbeech, Mo Horizons, Ursula 1000, and others.  Hit me up if you want a playlist...

John Howard Cassettes

Although I've never been a huge house guy, I have a place in my heart for ALL the John Howard mixes I've received over time.  I think the first one I received was from KLN or Mappy back in 1995.  I recently rediscovered them and converted them to mp3s.  Please help yourself to some great tunes and "big up" to all the homies who hooked me up with these tapes over the years.  A super huge "BIG UP" to John himself for the selections, mixing, and general kindness over the years.
